Notice – Messy Church

After much prayer and discussion we have decided to close Messy Church. Numbers attending have declined recently and our team has grown a bit older! Since Covid, families are spending their weekends differently and it seems that a Sunday afternoon is no longer a good time for them to attend a church service.

Our first Messy Church was on Shrove Tuesday in 2012 or 2013. Kathleen Hall wanted us to try it out and this was our first session. As I remember we had jacket potatoes and of course pancakes! It went well and we started to talk about doing it regularly. We visited other Messy Churches to see what worked for them and did some research, tried out a few ideas and started regularly towards the end of 2013. We called it Funday Sunday in those days, and we met on the first Sunday in the month. And we’ve been meeting ever since! Some of our initial children have grown up and are now working or studying, some have become taxpayers!
