Keith Barley

In the Queen's Birthday honours list our conservator, Keith Barley, was awarded an MBE for services to Cultural Restoration and Conservation. Keith's association with St Mary's goes back to at least 1987 when he embarked on the massive responsibility of restoring all 28 windows. It was a huge task for a young craftsman but it made his reputation. We are pleased that the initiative to nominate Keith came from within the local community and we share Keith's delight. GCH.

Romanian Youth Mission Trip

In early July our youth worker, Chris, both interns and 4 intrepid young people from across the South Cotswolds Team will venture into the unknown in reaching out to the often-neglected, Romany community in southern Romania.

Working through the local church via a Scripture Union link we will seek to embody a faith in Jesus Christ through practical signs of love and compassion.

If you are able to support us in any way, via prayer or a financial encouragement , please do get in touch with the SCT Youth Worker, Chris Saunders, on (01452) 301042 or email.

Charity of the Month:
The Mission to Seafarers

The Mission to Seafarers

The Mission celebrates its work by encouraging churches across the UK to come together on Sea Sunday during July to remember the brave and dedicated seafarers who we rely upon to keep our global economy afloat and to celebrate the work of seafarers. The Mission supports seafarers in over 261 ports in 71 countries around the world through its network of chaplains and volunteers who offer a warm Christian welcome, practical and financial support, advocacy services, access to legal advice and family liaison. The work of a seafarer is one of the most difficult, dangerous and challenging jobs in the world today. It can be a rough, lonely and hazardous career.

More information can be found on the shelf along the South wall or can be obtained direct from: The Mission to Seafarers, St Michael Paternoster Royal, College Hill, London EC4R 2RL Tel: 020 7248 5202

Previous Charity Fundraising

The sum of £28.57 was counted when the box for the May charity – Help Madina – was emptied. The PCC will add a further sum to this amount.

The Charities Committee welcomes suggestions for charities to be added to our list and, if agreed, the charity will be slotted in whenever there is a space. Please send suggestions to Jo Williams, Secretary to the Committee or email – owil4@btinternet.com or put a letter into the ‘W’ pigeonhole in the church. The Committee welcomes comments from the congregation and takes this opportunity to thank them for their generous support to the charities each month. A total of £4,145.10 was raised in 2014.

Christian Aid Week

The total raised for Christian Aid this year in Fairford was £976.58. The Street Collection raised £539.88 and the rest included donations at the Coffee morning and the Christian Aid Service held during Christian Aid week. Thank you to all those who contributed to this splendid total.
