Music in Country Churches
Music in Country Churches was set up as a Charitable Trust twenty five years ago, with His Royal Highness
The Prince of Wales as its active and very enthusiastic Patron. In that time it has distributed just short of half a
million pounds to rural churches to assist with repairs and the maintenance of their fabric.
In the South Cotswolds Team Ministry we have been fortunate to have had two weekends of music here in Fairford;
the first in aid of our own church and the other to assist St Mary’s Driffield. This year a further weekend of the
highest quality music will take place on 22nd and 23rd May to support the church of St Michael and
All Angels Harnhill.
Tickets from Prelude Records 01603 628319.
For details of the 3 concerts and prices see the Website
Lilies for Easter
Every Easter we fill the copper urn with Madonna lilies. If you would like to contribute towards the cost of these lilies,
a donation would be most welcome and if you would like the name of a loved one in the commemorative frame which we
place near the arrangement please let me have details. Donations can either be given to me or left in the Parish Office.
Thank you.

Welcome to Fairford
The Pastoral Care team at St Mary’s Church Fairford is planning an event to welcome the new residents in
Fairford and to introduce them to the various clubs and societies that we have in the town.
We would like to deliver an invitation to every new build property, especially those at the Bloor and
Linden sites. The date suggested at present is sometime in May 2015.
We plan to offer a drink/cup of tea and a bun/sandwich when guests arrive at the venue where there will
be stalls offering information about the ‘happenings’ in the town.
If your organisation would like to take part in any way, please contact Mary Mawle by telephone 01285 712174 or
Email.
Charity of the Month: Embrace the Middle East
The charity for April is ‘Embrace the Middle East’ formally ‘Biblelands’. Their funding comes from donations and
the sale of publications like the Carol Sheet that have been used in the Church during the Christmas period.
The income generated is used to help needy children in the Holy Land, Lebanon and Egypt, like Ahmed who is
2 years old. He was born into poverty. Malnutrition has affected his growth and he suffers from anaemia.
Ahmed lives in Gaza, where his young life is overshadowed by conflict, extremism and oppression. Your donation
will help to give him and others a healthy start. The charity supports local Christian groups that care for
children, with an emphasis on health and education. Some of the children are blind or disabled whilst others
come from poor or broken homes. Please help with your prayers too.
There is literature on the south wall shelf about ‘Embrace the Middle East’ charity.
Website.
Previous Charity Fundraising
When the box by the south door was emptied, £23.23 was counted for the February charity ‘People for YOU’
to which the PCC will add further amounts.

Wanted: New representative for St Mary’s
Joanne Roberts has represented St Mary’s Church on the Churches Together committee for many years
and has now decided the time has come to let someone else have a go. Thanks Joanne for all your efforts on our behalf.
So there is now a space on the Churches Together committee for another representative from St Mary's. Anyone interested,
please talk to Sarah Bottomley or Helen Evans (or Joanne!) about what is involved. It’s a good committee to be on!
