Poppy Display

Poppy Display

We would like to thank everyone who crafted poppies for our church Remembrance display this year, it was a tremendous effort and looked amazing, from the arch over the main door to the Dove of Peace Banner and the cascade of purple poppies inside the door all were stunning.

A big thank you too to the Friends of Fairford Church who footed the bill for the construction. Thanks also go to Freda and Margaret and the happy band of helpers for putting it all together, it involved some challenges and last minute changes, a lot of glue, stitching and pins, however it was worth it. Our thanks also go to John Lang and Murdoch Frazer for erecting the display over the door which involved chicken wire, ladders and who knows what else.

Charity of the Month 1:
Children’s Society

Children’s Society

Right now in Britain there are children and young people who feel scared, unloved and unable to cope. The Children’s Society works with these young people, step by step, for as long as it takes.

We listen. We support. We act.

There are no simple answers so we work with others to tackle complex problems. Only together can we make a difference to the lives of children now and in the future. Because no child should feel alone.

Charity of the Month 2:
CRISIS

CRISIS

We are the national charity for homeless people. We help people directly out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether.

Every bit of our work is integrated, and all contributes to our purpose of ending homelessness. The services we provide are carefully informed through our decades of experience of working with homeless people, and the research we've carried out over the years. Our research is driven by our knowledge from working side-by-side with homeless people every day. And this influences our campaigning for permanent change.

Fairford Christmas Day Lunch

For the seventh year running there will be a Christmas Lunch taking place on Christmas Day in the Fairford Community Centre.  This is for individuals and couples who would otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day and is open to people in Fairford and surrounding villages – and Lechlade.  It will continue to take the same format as before so we are looking for volunteers to assist in helping with the preparation and cooking of the meal, drivers to collect and return people home and others to act as hosts/hostesses during the day.

Please check on your neighbours and friends and put them in touch with us if they show any interest in joining us. A donation of £5 will be requested from each guest and other offers of support will be most welcome.

Each year we have been amazed by the generosity of the local community in supporting this worthwhile cause.
