Remembrance 2019

Remembrance 2019

Please continue to craft, as we still need knitted or crocheted poppies for St Mary’s Church for Remembrance Sunday 2019. The main arch will need hundreds of poppies, so please continue to crochet or knit.

We have a simple knitting pattern available if required or just do your own. You may like to do it in remembrance of a loved one or just to help with the project. Patterns are in the church on or near the stewards desk, for more information please ask either Rev Denise, Wendy, or Ann or phone Ann 713063.

Messy Church

Messy Church

We meet on the second Sunday
of every month EXCEPT AUGUST.

Sunday 13th October
In St Mary's Church. 4pm-6pm
Crafts, Games, Celebration, Cooked Meal
FOR FAMILIES.

we will be celebrating Harvest. So lots of harvest crafts and games followed by a Celebration and then a ploughman’s supper with apple crumble in the Community Centre, finishing about 6pm as usual. We shall donate any Harvest offerings to the Food Bank so please bring appropriate items.

Please let us know of any dietary requirements for the meal, otherwise just turn up on the day.

What a messy afternoon we had in September! – we painted our feet and walked towards the cross thinking about walking together with the Lord. Do come and look at the display in the church which shows what else we did while thinking about fellowship with each other.

Wave of Light Event

Baby Loss Awareness Week

Tuesday 15th October, 6.30pm
The Bull Room, The Bull Hotel

Part of Baby Loss Awareness Week

Anyone who has been affected by the loss of a baby in pregnancy, at birth or in the early years is welcome to join with us to take part in the Global Wave of Light. On International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day each year, people around the world light a candle from 7-8pm local time to remember babies gone too soon in a global “wave of light”. Whether the loss is recent or long ago, or if you grieve a pregnancy never even taking place, you are invited to come, light a candle and remember, in whatever way you’d like to.

Refreshments will be provided. In order to create a safe, mindful space, we ask that children do not attend this event.

If you would like any more information, please contact:

Church Wardens

We are currently looking for a couple more Churchwatch Stewards, one to cover 3pm to 4.30pm on Thursday afternoons commencing later this year and another covering midday to 1.00pm on Fridays commencing at the start of January 2020.

Everybody that acts as a steward always say how much they enjoy it and meet such interesting people. The requirement is simply one of greeting visitors and handing out a short guide and explaining about using the audio guide and no knowledge is required about the building.

If you are in a position to help please contact Roy Phillips, either by phone, 01793 751585 or email and we can arrange to meet and explain things more fully.
