SCT Youth Worker's Newsletter Summer 19

For the 5th time, we are returning to work with Scripture Union Romania in impoverished parts of the country. Our intrepid band of 9 will work alongside the local church bringing a programme of fun through games, bible stories and craft in the hope of introducing Jesus and showing compassion to children who have difficult lives in hard conditions. 11-17 August, Romania 19

School transition visits Youth Worker, Chris, has just completed class assemblies at all 9 C of E primary schools in the SCT, speaking to approx 150 Y6 pupils about to embark on the great adventure of secondary school. In our sessions, we discussed hopes for the future and unpacked concerns such as getting lost, bullying and making friends. For those moving to Farmors I hope to provide a bridge of being another ‘friendly face around’ as well as inviting to the Y7 only Cookie Jar club.

The Quench residential will be on 11-13 Oct at Macaroni Woods

Remembrance 2019

Remembrance 2019

Please continue to craft over the summer months, as we still need knitted or crocheted poppies for St Mary’s Church for Remembrance Sunday 2019. The main arch will need hundreds of poppies, so please continue to crochet or knit.

We have a simple knitting pattern available if required or just do your own. You may like to do it in remembrance of a loved one or just to help with the project. Patterns are in the church on or near the stewards desk, for more information please ask either Rev Denise, Wendy, or Ann or phone Ann 713063.

Charity of the Month:
Scrubditch Care Farm

Scrubditch Care Farm

Scrubditch Care Farm is located between Woodmancote and North Cerney, four miles north of Cirencester; it is based on Scrubditch Farm which is a family run business with mainly sheep and cattle.

The care farm began in October 2010. They have regular weekly students, group visits and run Holiday Activity Schemes for children of all abilities.  It is a registered charity, and the site is a secure and safe environment where students can feel at home. They work hard, and have a real sense of pride with their achievements at the end of each day. They look forward to their visit to the farm every week. The care farm grows with the students and offers rural vocational training which aims to build confidence and develop social and practical skills.

The care farm provides farming-based activities for adults and young people with learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, or mental health problems. Students partake in a variety of activities including working with animals, growing vegetables, fruit and flowers, cooking and learning basic woodworking skills.

Scrubditch Care Farm is grateful for ANY donations, however large or small.
