Charity of the Month 1:
Children’s Society

Children’s Society

The Children’s Society is a leading charity committed to making childhood better for all children in UK. Action is taken to protect, rescue and support Children facing life trapped in a vicious circle of fear and harm, a circle driven by violence, neglect, poverty and discrimination which destroys childhood and wrecks community living. Children are given hope and confidence they need to face the future with optimism. None are turned away. The work of the Society depends on generous donations from the Public, supporters and volunteers.

Can you help with a donation? There is literature on the bookshelf along the south wall. For further information: write to The Children’s Society, Edward Rudolf House. 69-95 Margery Street, LONDON WC1 0JL. Tel: 020 78414400 Option 1.

Charity of the Month 2:
CRISIS OPEN CHRISTMAS

CRISIS OPEN CHRISTMAS

If anyone is homeless in Hostel accommodation Christmas can be a lonely and depressing time. For the last 41 years CRISIS OPEN CHRISTMAS has helped to alleviate that loneliness by the provision of Christmas Centres across London during the period 23rd to 30th December, that not only offer that vital companionship but meals and warmth together with a wide range of essential services that homeless people do not normally have access to. All this is provided by Volunteers from all walks of life. Beyond the traditional Christmas Dinner over 1500 guests can take advantage of over 20 services and a variety of activities to start, hopefully, to transform their lives, for many a second chance in life.

To find out more about their activities information is available on the bookshelf along the south wall. Your donations in the box will be gratefully received. Further information write to CRISIS, 68 Commercial Street LONDON E1 6LT. Tel: 0844 251 0111.

Joint Charities Carol Service Sunday Dec 7th 4pm

Joint Charities Carol Service

You can get into the Christmas spirit at the Charity Carol Service at St Mary’s Church organised by the Gloucestershire Arthritis Trust. They have battled to raise £2.4m to buy much-needed medical equipment for local hospitals throughout Gloucestershire since 1983.

This is a great chance to sing your favourite traditional carols, accompanied by Fairford’s own church choir and yet be home in time for tea. A retiring collection will be shared between Gloucestershire Arthritis Trust and Fairford’s Community Bus scheme.

Everyone is welcome.
