New Team Vicar for Fairford
On the 24th August it was announced that the Rev’d Caroline Symcox has been appointed as Team Vicar for Fairford. Her
institution will be on the 4th of November.
Caroline studied theology at Keble College, Oxford. In July 2011 she was ordained deacon by the Bishop of Dorchester
at Christchurch Cathedral, and moved to Amersham in Buckinghamshire where she served her title as curate,
serving the communities of St. Mary’s Amersham and All Saints’ Coleshill in Oxford Diocese.
Harvest Festival 5th October
We will be celebrating Harvest Festival at St Mary’s on Sunday 5th October at 10.00am.
This year we will be supporting the Cirencester Food Bank and would ask you to bring
contributions of dried or tinned goods - nothing homemade or fresh unfortunately. These can be brought
to either the church beforehand or to the service. As a reminder there is a box at the back of the church
for your contributions throughout the rest of the year in the south aisle.
A Quiet Evening on 9th October at 8pm
This will be an opportunity for quiet reflection using the ‘Experience Harvest' stations which children
from the Primary School will have been using during the previous week. It will last about an hour and
refreshments will be available during the evening.
All are welcome.
Charity of the Month: St Luke’s Healthcare for the Clergy
Some will remember that a year ago St Mary’s Church ran the charity. Since then the Hospital in
London has been sold and in place St Luke’s Healthcare for the Clergy has been set up, providing appropriate
physical health and psychological health services, where treatment is given and arrangements made to see
the right honorary consultant when seeking a second medical opinion.
Maintaining a healthy mind in the midst of the pressures of ministry together with problems of physical health
that can affect any one of us from time to time is the aim of the charity. One off donations can be made to the
charity and St Luke’s welcomes financial support from all organisations including church groups.
Can you help this worthy cause? If so please place a donation in the box by the south door, and use a Gift Aid
envelope if you pay tax. Thank you very much for your support.
There is literature on the south wall shelf and you can write to St Luke’s Healthcare for the Clergy,
Room 201, Church House, Great Smith Street LONDON, SW1P 3AZ. Tel: 0207 898 1700.
Website.
