Charity Advent Service
Sunday 2nd December at 6.00pm in St Mary's Church In aid of Gloucestershire Athritis Trust and St Mary's Church
A Traditional Advent Service with Fairford's own Choir.
Churches Together Around Fairford
The annual Harvest Event was on Friday 5th October. It took the form of a Puddings Evening held in the Palmer Hall,
and a wonderful array of puddings was very much enjoyed by all those that attended.
Over £200 was raised and this will be divided equally between Christian Aid and CAFOD.
We are most grateful to everyone who helped to set up the Hall beforehand and to clear away afterwards, and of course to those wonderful cooks who provided the puddings.
Our thanks too to those who bought tickets and contributed to the great total that we were able to raise.
Charity of the Month: St Luke’s Healthcare for the Clergy
St Luke’s has been caring for the health and well-being of Anglican clergy since 1892. Their aim is to support the physical
and mental health of the Anglican clergy. They want the clergy and their families to be physically and psychologically
healthy and able to carry out their ministry free from stress and preventable health problems.
When they are ill, the charity helps the clergy get back to an active role in their communities as quickly as possible.
St Luke’s has recently developed services that take a preventative approach to mental health and wellbeing. These resources are
available to clergy via their diocese, and are in addition to one-to-one therapy and counselling that St Luke’s can offer in certain cases.
Indeed, our own Gloucester Diocese has taken up a number of courses organised by St Luke’s, and Rev Caroline has recently been invited
to attend a Resiliency in Ministry course sponsored by St Luke’s. We hope you will support this well-established and highly effective charity.

Fairford and District Choral Society Concert
Saturday 1 December 2018 at 7.30pm
Fairford and District Choral Society’s winter concert is on Saturday 1 December 2018 at St Mary’s Church, Fairford.
They will be singing Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace (the choral suite plus God Shall Wipe Away All Tears) and Hummel’s Mass in B flat.
The Armed Man choral suite has been chosen to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War 1. “After many discussions about the Jenkins’ piece,
we decided to add God Shall Wipe Away All Tears”, said Carole Noble, Chair of the Society. “The choral suite is a beautiful piece and we wanted
to end with a message of peace and hope”.
The concert will be conducted by the society’s music director, Marysia Gorska-Saj.
See the Choral Society website for more details.
