All Souls Day Service Tuesday 2 November at 6pm
In the context of Holy Communion we will remember with thanksgiving our family and
friends; those whom we love but, for a while, see no longer. If you wish someone named
before God during this service please let the vicar know.
Remembrance Sunday Service 14 November at 10.55am
Those who have died, and continue to do so, in times of war will be remembered and, in an
increasingly violent and fearful world, we shall pray for peace and reconciliation. Wreaths
will be laid at the War Memorial following the service.
Our guest preacher at this service will be the Archdeacon of Cheltenham,
The Venerable Robert Springett.

Your Church Needs You!
Do you enjoy welcoming and chatting to visitors?
St Mary's needs additional Stewards to replace a number of long-serving Stewards who
are retiring. The duties are to provide a warm welcome to our church and general information,
advice, leaflets, etc.
Even one hour once a week would be wonderful, or join the Relief Stewards'list to provide
occasional cover.
Further information from Jo Williams, Co-ordinator of Stewards, 01285 713341.

Charity of the Month: 'Help the Heroes'
The charity for November is 'Help the Heroes', support for our wounded servicemen and women.
The charity was founded after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham by Bryn
and Emma Parry, who met some extraordinary brave young men who had been badly wounded.
They just wanted to do something to help so in October 2007 the charity was launched with
the backing of the Royal family, celebrities, the media and countless ordinary people.
Over £1M has been raised every month since. The message is simple - the charity does not
seek to criticize or be political. All efforts go to raise money then the Service experts
of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force are asked for guidance on how best to spend it.
The intention is to spend all the raised money on the practical, direct support of those
wounded in the service of our country since 9/11.
Particularly with Remembrance Sunday falling during the month, please support the work of this
charity. There is literature on the shelf by the south wall or you can contact by post, phone or
website : Help for Heroes, Unit 6, Aspire Business Centre, Ordnance Road TIDWORTH, Hants SP9 7QD.
Tel: 01980 846459. www.helpforheroes.org.uk.
If you can use a gift aid envelope this will add 25% to your donation.
